IDS Design Boot Camp 2011
Tuesday-Wednesday, 2nd-3rd August 2011 | Equator Leith Street Campus, Penang
The annual 2 days professional "IDS Design Boot Camp 2011" is organised by TS EXIM Sdn Bhd, this year with speakers from Japan, Mr.Kazuo Yasumatsu, he has over 30 years experience as a passionate & creative architect and interior design. Senior Designer from Malaysia Mr.Dickie Ong, A Team, Design Worldwide Partnership and a fellow member of Malaysian Institude of Interior Designers (IPDM) and Mr.Lai Siew Hong with 20 years of industrial experience, currently overseeing project in South East Asia and Middle East Regions. His prominent clients such as Hilton Hotel, Hyatt Hotel, Marriott Hotel, Equatorial Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Genting World Berhad and CIMB.
The 2 Days Design Boot Camp is an inspired practical programme presented by industry experts and famous interior designers and architects. Training kits will be provided.
6th Thinklab Design Conference 2011

The 6th thinklab Design Conference 2011 "George Town: Creative City" is annual event organised by thinklab a research based design organisation providing a platform for creative think tanks to share knowledge and provide information to create new ideas in the spirit of empowering humanity's progression through recognizing future cultural possibilities.
This year speakers are Khoo Salma, Dr.Ken Yeang, Dr.Anwar Fazal, Kevin Mark Low, Sali Sasaki, Hasnul J. Saidon and Huzir Sulaiman. Equator Academy of Art is one of the partners in the events. More info at thinklab website.
Malaysia Green Building Confederation 2011

Interior & Architecture Students Study Trip

Our annual study trip organised by the Interior Design and Architectural Technology departments. This year trip to KL and Putrajaya with 38 students and 4 lecturers, visiting and exploring the structural and design of our Federal Administrative Centre of Malaysia, Millennium Monument, Putra Mosque, Putrajaya International Convention Centre and at night they were surrounded with food and shopping.
Equator's Fashion Show at 1st Avenue Mall recently!

Equator's Fashion Department organised a Fashion Show and DIY workshop at 1st Avenue Mall Penang recently. The Highlight of the event was a catwalk consisting of over 40 masterpiece creations designed and created by our 2nd and 3rd year fashion design students. They started and gained valueable experiences from design development, pattern making, sewing to the runway process.

SRC Beach Party from Noon till Sunset

2011 kicked off with EAA's Beach Party. With a BBQ, Philippines dishes, Tomyam and lots of games abound, the party was to foster friendship and getting to know new and old Equatorians. The event was organised by Equator's Student Representative Council, led by Cheuk Kwok Cheong and Roxanne Tan.
Autodesk University 2010 Workshop

The new year kicked off with a 3D workshop, "3D Design from Concept to Completion in AutoCad". The FREE registration workshop introduced new methods of creating 3D objects from shapes in AutoCad 2011.
The participants had a insight and practical know how to control sub-object selection as well as learn valuable tips and tricks for navigating and visualizing your AutoCad models. The workshop is a convenient new way to obtain practical skills, industry knowledge and professional contacts.
The POeCC Animation Competition 2010 Winners

Congratulations again to Jason Chuah for winning the 1st Prize in the 3D Animation category at the Penang Open e-Creative Challenge 2010 (POeCC '10). Animation students Lim Ee-Wei and Faril Izzadi also won consolation prizes in the 2D animation category.
The competition with the theme "Going Green", is aimed to encourage Malaysians to venture into the digital creative content industry and develop their potential in animation technology.
POeCC 2010 was organised by the Penang Development Corporation and MDeC. The seminar and prize giving ceremony was held at City Bayview Hotel on Saturday, 18th December 2010 and officiated by the Penang Chief Minister YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng.
The Heroes Artcamp 2010

Another year has gone by and another successful Artcamp concluded. This year's "Heroes" theme had participants making superheroes costumes, printing and taking part in activities and games.
Our annual Artcamp is designed with interesting and exciting activities and games in mind so that students are exposed to the wonderful world of Art and Design.

Panorama 2010 Asia-Pacific Design Challenge

Congratulations to our new 3D Animation lecturer for winning the Best V-Blog Award during the recently concluded Autodesk PANORAMA Asia Pacific Animation Challenge and Bootcamp 2010.
After four days of intense competition, Jason Chuah and his team member Aman Sandhu won the award for the animation, "Change." which is about an energy-saving lightbulb going green. The award recognises creativity, originality, technical excellence and overall design concept.
The competition, organised by Autodesk and MDeC is specially designed for design enthusiasts to challenge their skills and creative mettle against fellow peers, based on a "Change The World" theme.

The Digital Art Competition 2010

Equator's Interior Design students Lau Joo Ee won the 2nd Prize, the 3rd Prize winner goes to Tan Kuang Wei and follow by the Consolation Prize winners Quah Yee Ching, Tan Li Xin, Ong Sun Sun, Lim Che Ying, and Oung Pei Shan with cash and certificates.
Equator Prom Nite 2010 - Masquerade

An enjoyful event was organised by the Student Council of Equator, chaired by Matrika, assisted by Roxanne, EanJee, Chin Wei and Ms.Ong, where members of the council have been working relentlessly to put the event in place. The Shoe Painting Competition Winners!

A successful and enjoyable events that attracted more than 100 participants from Northern Peninsular Malaysia. The Winners were Terry Neoh, Koay Choo Eng, Lim Chia Yee, Elsie Fun, and Gary Ch'ng with their breath taking grafitti design.
The annual Galaxie Youth Carnival is organised by The Star Publications Bhd, supported by Equator Academy of Art and sponsored by Jazz Star. The competition is open to secondary school students, college students and the public (Age group from 16 - 30) at Penang Times Square on Saturday, 15th May 2010.

Earth Day - Keep Me Clean

A big turn out of thousands in the wee hours of early Sunday morning to make a lending hand for our mother earth. Our theme "Keep Me Clean" is to remind us of the importance and to raise awareness of the responsibility of everyone in keeping our earth healthy. We had a great team consisting of staff and students who participated in the Coastal Cleaning Up Gurney Drive Campaign.
The event was held at Gurney Drive, Penang on Sunday, 18th April 2010 from 6.30am till 11.00am.

Equator's Graphic & Multimedia Design student Tan Kun Dim won the 1st Prize at the Mural Art Competition 2010 and walked away with cash and gifts. The Consolation prizes went to Matrika and Chan Wei Chow in the recently held competition.
The Mural Art Competition was organised by Cathay Cineplex Malaysia on Thursday, 25th March 2010.

New Maya Animation Lab for Digital 3D Animation Students

The College has invested in the set-up of a Maya Animation Lab for students in Digital 3D Animation with 20 set each of Autodesk Maya 2011 and Autodesk Mudbox 2011. Maya is a Hollywood award-winning software, which is the leading edge of entertainment technology for visual in films, animations and TV commercials.
