Students Overjoyed to Receive RM200 Book Vouchers

Diploma students from Equator Academy of Art were delighted to receive their RM200 book vouchers from the Federal Government.
"The vouchers help the students lessen their burden in buying books and art materials" said the Principal Dato' Chuah at the presentation.

Agilent's Design Challenge 2011

Equator's Graphic Design students Amanda Cheong Yee Lyn and Thor Jin Man received their Prizes at Agilent Penang recently for their competition titled "Retool Your Expectations Design Challenge" in 2D and 3D category.
Congratulations to both of them, giving extra time and efforts in the competition.

Equator's "Circus Masters" Artcamp 2011

Equator's "Circus Masters" ArtCamp 2011 has been successfully concluded. This year's circus themed event promises a magnificent amount of fun and creative learning, which was duly delivered.
The annual Artcamp is designed to explore and expand the participant's artistic horizons through our series of activities and games so that the participants are exposed to the wonderful world of Art and Design.

Equator's Convocation, Fashion Show & Dinner Celebrations 2011

YB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Executive Councillor of Penang, Principal Dato' Chuah, Staff and distinguished guests celebrated Equator's 20th Convocation Ceremony with enthusiastic graduates and their family members at the Grand Ballroom of Traders Hotel, Penang.
The Convocation was held on Saturday, 6th December 2011 with hundred of graduates from 6 disciplines in our art & design field.

Happy Days for 5 Tanjong Heritage 2011 Winners

Thursday, 1st December 2011 | Grand Ballroom, Novotel, Kuala Lumpur

Winners from Equator attended the Tanjong Heritage Awards Ceremony recently. The winners in the Printmaking category are Gayahthri D/O Asokan (1st Prize) and Allyson Koay Yi Ling (3rd Prize). Other consolation prizes goes to Loh Jia Yee (Printmaking), Jonathan Abel (Oil Painting) and Teoh Yi Ming (Pencil/ Colour Pencil).

The Tanjong Heritage art competition was launched in 2001 by Tanjong PLC to promote the appreciation of Malaysia's heritage among Malaysian youth and to nurture and showcase the talents of our young artists.
All the staff and lecturers of Equator would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winners and participants for their effort.

Fashion Design Students Study Trip

Study trip organised by the Fashion Design Technology department to MIFA Malaysia International Fashion Week Events and KL with 26 students and 2 lecturers, visiting and exploring the Malaysian textile, new materials and visiting fashion studio and not to mention food and shopping.

Adobe Design Software Presentation For Class 113

Congratulation to all Class 113 students for receiving their Adobe Creative Suite CS5 design softwares, included Adobe Illustrator CS5, Photoshop CS5, InDesign CS5, Flash CS5 and etc. The software presentation were presented by the Principal Dato' Chuah himself. This is the college initiative to encourage our students to use original design softwares.

83 students and staff taking part of the thousand Penangites in their early hour for a social community activities at Cleaning Gurney Drive 2011. Collecting the unwanted items and undisposable product by the beach. These is the second year community activities involved Penangites, local council and the Penang State Government efforts.

Unique Fashion Contest

Saturday, 8th October 2011 | Gurney Plaza, Penang

Ingenious outfits from Bedsheet! Hundreds of shoppers watched on 10 contestants, working only with a set of bedsheet, bolster case and pillow case raced against 3 hours deadline to conjure up wearable outfits and have models parade on the stage. The Winners are Tang Chia Yin, Teo Chun Keat and Khoo Su Jing from Fashion Design Department.

1Malaysia Contemporary Art Tourism 2011 Carnival

Held for the second consecutive year, 1MCAT is a national festival that celebrates, showcases and promote Malaysia's very own artists' works of art locally and internationally. It's a platform for art enthusiasts, artists, sculptors, gallery owners, as well as the new generation of collectors to forge business alliances, acquire new contemporary art works, share ideas and exchange information about the new contemporary art of Malaysia. Come and join the MCAT Carnival at 57 Macalister Road on 16th till 18th September 2011 with performance, demonstration, workshops and art talk.
Equator will exhibit a collection of artworks and paintings at 57 Macalister Road and Equator's Gallery at 7 Leith Street, Penang (19th - 30th September 2011).

IDS Design Boot Camp 2011

The annual 2 days professional "IDS Design Boot Camp 2011" is organised by TS EXIM Sdn Bhd, this year with speakers from Japan, Mr.Kazuo Yasumatsu, he has over 30 years experience as a passionate & creative architect and interior design. Senior Designer from Malaysia Mr.Dickie Ong, A Team, Design Worldwide Partnership and a fellow member of Malaysian Institude of Interior Designers (IPDM) and Mr.Lai Siew Hong with 20 years of industrial experience, currently overseeing project in South East Asia and Middle East Regions. His prominent clients such as Hilton Hotel, Hyatt Hotel, Marriott Hotel, Equatorial Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Genting World Berhad and CIMB.

6th Thinklab Design Conference 2011

The 6th thinklab Design Conference 2011 "George Town: Creative City" is annual event organised by thinklab a research based design organisation providing a platform for creative think tanks to share knowledge and provide information to create new ideas in the spirit of empowering humanity's progression through recognizing future cultural possibilities.

Malaysia Green Building Confederation 2011

Interior & Architecture Students Study Trip

Our annual study trip organised by the Interior Design and Architectural Technology departments. This year trip to KL and Putrajaya with 38 students and 4 lecturers, visiting and exploring the structural and design of our Federal Administrative Centre of Malaysia, Millennium Monument, Putra Mosque, Putrajaya International Convention Centre and at night they were surrounded with food and shopping.

Equator's Fashion Show at 1st Avenue Mall recently!

Equator's Fashion Department organised a Fashion Show and DIY workshop at 1st Avenue Mall Penang recently. The Highlight of the event was a catwalk consisting of over 40 masterpiece creations designed and created by our 2nd and 3rd year fashion design students. They started and gained valueable experiences from design development, pattern making, sewing to the runway process.

SRC Beach Party from Noon till Sunset

2011 kicked off with EAA's Beach Party. With a BBQ, Philippines dishes, Tomyam and lots of games abound, the party was to foster friendship and getting to know new and old Equatorians. The event was organised by Equator's Student Representative Council, led by Cheuk Kwok Cheong and Roxanne Tan.

Autodesk University 2010 Workshop

The new year kicked off with a 3D workshop, "3D Design from Concept to Completion in AutoCad". The FREE registration workshop introduced new methods of creating 3D objects from shapes in AutoCad 2011.
The participants had a insight and practical know how to control sub-object selection as well as learn valuable tips and tricks for navigating and visualizing your AutoCad models. The workshop is a convenient new way to obtain practical skills, industry knowledge and professional contacts.

The POeCC Animation Competition 2010 Winners

Congratulations again to Jason Chuah for winning the 1st Prize in the 3D Animation category at the Penang Open e-Creative Challenge 2010 (POeCC '10). Animation students Lim Ee-Wei and Faril Izzadi also won consolation prizes in the 2D animation category.
The competition with the theme "Going Green", is aimed to encourage Malaysians to venture into the digital creative content industry and develop their potential in animation technology.

POeCC 2010 was organised by the Penang Development Corporation and MDeC. The seminar and prize giving ceremony was held at City Bayview Hotel on Saturday, 18th December 2010 and officiated by the Penang Chief Minister YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng.

The Heroes Artcamp 2010
